The pressure is on and watch Republican congressmen crack. They should have taken the last deal. School is in session and the "not so bright" guy is getting the last laugh.

I wonder how you would feel if you entered a room and was told you had to pay more taxes because you did something right? And I mean anyone..

Ha! The dirty little secret is that raising taxes on the "rich" is barely going to make a dent into his multi-trillion dollar deficit spending. The people who re-elected him seem to be extremely ignorant when it comes to the dire financial straits we are in. We have a SPENDING problem. Not a revenue problem.

Ok, increase the taxes on all millionaires and billionaires...In fact, tax them 100%....and take all their savings, stocks, real estate, etc. Add it all up and you have about a $1 trillion. Now, remember that Obama added $6 trillion to the debt in the past 4 years. You can increase taxation on the rich but we must realize that we have MUCH more of an issue with reckless and irresponsible spending. That is by far the bigger issue.

I expect to see thousnads of anti-Obama rants about welfare and so on, but it is beautiful to see the way this was played out. The President courted Republicans with their own idea, ACA and they rejected it. Then he went deep into compromise mode while I and other Liberals were questioning what he was doing because he was giving Republican too much of their way. He saw it better than any of us. He knew they would not give even an inch. Then they ridiculed him and thought it was going to be a walk in the park to beat him. Then he snacked victory from their grasp. It was the "rope-a-dope" guys.

theagonybho: "Good call new taxes on business should really spur hiring for 2013, he just doesn't get it."...say what you will, but according to recent polls 53% of self-identified Republicans back an increase in taxes on households making more than $250,000. More than two-thirds of all Americans back higher taxes on the rich and even larger numbers think Medicare and Social Security benefits should be left alone. Perhaps it's you that doesn't "get it?"

The interest on our debt is about $4 billion a day right now. Something drastics has to be done. Both sides need to come together and do what is right for America and not their respective parties. Time to play nice and get some problems solved. Blaming each other will not get this accomplished....
