MIAMI - The Miami Marlins' spending spree a year ago didn't work, so now they're trying another payroll purge, shedding some of their biggest stars and their multimillion-dollar salaries in one blockbuster deal.

Well, I see the Marlins are doing things the "Twins Way"

Well, I see Toronto moved and became a "player" in free agency. What's Terry Ryan waiting for? Move Terry now. You've already lost the kid from Florida and a great shortstop.

If you are going to print this story, you might want to mention the other half of the details, based on the same rumors about who the Blue Jays are sending to Miami: shortstop Yunel Escobar, second baseman Adeiny Hechavarria, catcher Jeff Mathis, right-handed pither Henderson Alvarez, and left-handed pitcher Justin Nicolino. This part of the story makes the previous comments look pretty ridiculous. I think that in the long-run that Marlins will be quite satisfied.

I wouldn't have minded bringing Josh Johnson home

Hmmm..... the Jays took on 96 mil for a grossly overpaid, bad shortstop. I wonder if they need a grossly overpaid catcher?
