I downloaded windows 8, works great....replaced windows 7
The problem with sticking with Windows 7 is that it is now one version old. Microsoft conveniently stops making their software work with older versions of their operating system. For example, their suite of Windows programming tools, Visual Studio, does not work with Windows Vista. So if you chose Vista over Win7 when Win7 was released, you would now be out of luck. The same thing will happen to anyone who chooses Windows 7 over Windows 8. They will soon be out of luck. Microsoft may "support" their operating systems and release security patches, but they don't make their own software work with older operating systems.
