I love these people who think 'green energy' is the future. "the fast spread of wind and solar technologies". Please wind and solar will never make it until all oil is gone of the planet. Nuclear energy is the future.
This is a frightening example whereby "being first" will quite likely have a disasterous impact on our environment and people's health. The long term results of hydraulic fracturing have not been adequately assessed.
We would have been the biggest producer years ago if Obama had opened up public lands for oil exploitation! DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW! We should be paying no more than 95 cents per gallon for gasoline!

There was an article not long ago that claimed we are currently exporting more oil than we are importing. That's right, exporting. We are in the world market. The only way that drilling more here would lower gas prices would be to keep it all for ourselves. You know that ain't going to happen.
IRONIC that with eight years with an Oil Man in Office and his Halburton krone the price of gas went to $4.00/ gallon. Now we have a 'fox news socialist' who wasn't even born here and the concept of Energy Independence could actually become a reality.
It will be great until the wells run dry.
It will be interesting to watch as the Middle East becomes depleted of their most precious export as we sit back and become #1. You think they hate us over there now, wait until you see the looks on their faces when this happens.
jafblumpkin....neither the "oil man" nor the "fox news socialist" had anything to do with the increased production of domestic oil and the resulting price of gas. If you're looking for a group to give credit to, start with scientists, geologists, and engineers.
Who is going to protect those strategic routes that will be bringing oil from the Middle East to Asia? Better not be us.
All this oil gained from public lands should be kept here bringing our prices down and providing more independence and freedom (while people do whatever they want with the money they've saved on lower energy prices) for US. Think of what a boost our people and economy should be getting out of this, as opposed to higher profits for the oil companies and a shift in world oil buying locations. Corporatists will be the end of this nation yet if we don't vote them out of office.
