Not bad as far as first impressions go

Looking for a spark in their passing game with Percy Harvin injured, the Vikings turned right away to rookie Jarius Wright.

Wright will be replacing Harvin after he leaves next year.

As fans, we wonder why the coaching staff took so long to use Wright's speed in their offense. With his speed a well as Simpson's, the Vikings can stretch the defense, allowing room for Percy to work the slots and Rudolph space in the middle. Line up Wright, Simpson and Harvin together, thus preventing defenses from stacking the box since they would have to keep their safeties back to account for the speed. This means AP will be running against 6 man fronts instead of 8-9 man fronts, but the way AP is running hard I guess it doesn't really matter what fronts! Good win and nice to see Wright in there contributing!

The only way Harvin is leaving next year is if he gets traded. He's got one year left after this one, and I'm sure we'll hear plenty next year about how his contract extension talks are going. But thanks for the negative tabarnak vibes.

Tabarnak is absolutly correct, its easy to see Percy doesn't want to be in MN, and unless Ponder is the next coming of Tom Brady, his feelings aren't gonna change. As much as I like Harvin, i've seen it happen way to often in Minnesota sports.

The question begs why this inept coaching staff or whatever has failed to play this guy before now. Since it is a so-called rebuilding year, why has it taken until game 10 to get this guy on the field? If he had made mistakes earlier in the year so be it. What player didn't make mistakes? This is the problem with this team. There is talent sitting on the sidelines, carry clipboards or playing special teams which this inept coaching staff has failed to identify. If Chester Taylor didn't get hurt, AP might have played very little in 2007. Look at the coaching staff, yikes.

I thought Ponder had nobody to throw too? I thought all our WR's were worthless? Can't get open? Oppps, I guess we were wrong. Nobody is saying that this week. Maybe it was the fact Ponder simply can't throw about half of his games.

To all the genius' on here who seem to know more than our coaching staff: J Wright is terrible on special teams. Burton is a standout on special teams. If you play Wright, you sit Burton. Did anyone see Wright drop that third down pass that would have resulted in a first down? He is a good young player, but calm down. He is not the second coming of Sammy White. And whether you want to admit it or not, special teams wins and loses games. Our coaches know that and they are doing everything to win, so calm down.

What some are saying is that Wright should be playing more not that he is the 2nd coming of anybody. Take advantage of his 4.30 speed, have him run long patterns to clear out space so that the Vikes can work the middle. By the way, didn't Burton dropped a wide open 11 yard pass in the 4th quarter?

Wright should be on the roster when Percy returns...there are other players on the roster that should be inactive. Harvin, Wright, and Simpson on the field at the same time and Rudolf at TE....someone should be open!

If Bill Musgrave has any brains at all he will have Jarius Wright on the field with Percy Harvin going forward. Jarius can play inside and outside. I am sorry but Michael Jenkins needs to sit down and Wright take his place for most snaps. Jarius Wright was wide open much of the day with Ponder missing him and going with check downs. It is clear Wright gets separation while guys Like Jenkins simply do not. Musgrave needs to get it! And Ponder needs to start taking some chances and get the ball down range instead of checking down all the time. His fear of throwing an INT is holding him back with longer throws. If Ponder cant make progress in this area in the last 6 games then he never will......
