If his failures continue, careers of coaches, staff, teammates will sink, too.

Great points all. Being 5-4 greatly exceeds my expectations going into the season, but Ponder's slump after a hot start makes me wonder if his capabilities and tendencies have been figured out by opposing defenses. I don't buy the argument that the receivers aren't good enough; you don't need Cris Carter and Randy Moss when you have the best RB in the league in the backfield. This has to be the deciding year for Ponder if we don't want to waste the best years for AP and Percy.

Well the beauty of a MN sports team is there will be no change in the near future. As long as people continue to buy tickets, mgmt can say we are in the middle of rebuilding so hang in there and continue to support the owners suckers.

Finally an honest appraisal of Ponder and his supporters. With one exception, I don't believe for a second that Frazier believes in Ponder as much as he is being a 'good soldier' for Speilman and the organization. He has to tow the line on Ponder even if he feels otherwise, it wasn't his choice. Great article!

The biggest waste will be Peterson, Harvin and the rest of the veterans that deserve better. Ponder sure isn't giving his 110% effort. He's not NFL material.

Dante took down Tice,, tice was loyal to him. Ponder will take down Frasier,, for sure. I have to say that I called the vikings at 8 and 8 . I thought they were going to do better until the last 3 weeks. Now I know we will have to suffer with Ponder for the season. This NFL bs of sticking with your man do or die is bull,, but I guess it will be die. I don't think the vikings will improve with Ponder/Musgrave. So suffer the rest of the season and WHO'S NEXT!

All of this could have been avoided had Spielman been fired the same time Childress was let go. Wilf has himself to blame. I fully expect Spielman will be gone within a year or two. The Vikings are looking at last place again this year, for the third year in a row. All you have to do is look at the history of Spielman with the Miami Dolphins to access what is next for Rick.

Tough to blame Frazier for Spielman's decision to draft Ponder too early. Total panic move.

Frasiers job is on the line same as Ponders,,If he can't stand up and change QB'S when things look dismal, then he leaves with the QB,,, just the way it is.

There is little doubt that Spielman and Frazier have together assembled one of the most clueless and low budget coaching staffs in the league. Wilf will have to face the music and get rid of this collection of amatuer losers including Spielman and Frazier if the organization ever wants to compete for a NFC North title let alone achieve a winning record.

Didn't Culpepper win 2 playoff games? I thought he beat the New Orleans Saints in 2000 before the Vikings lost to the Giants 41-0.
