Some thought he could make run for White House.
Patraeus is a human being, just like the rest of us...Probably good for him to be out of a life that demanded him to be above that. Prayers for him and for his family
The author knows Gen.Petraeus very well having been embedded with the troops both in Iraq and Afghanistan. The strength of this article is it lays it out in a factual manner and lets the reader decide. Did he succeed due to planning his career in every aspect, including his marriage to the superintendant's daughter at West Point one month after his graduation, due to love or to further his career. that is not to say he doesn't love her. Then seeking appointment as an aide to a general. This is a man who knew what he wanted and did everything possible to achieve it. Sadly now there is an asterisk after his accomplishments. I too wish the best to he and his wife Holly, especially her as she is now collateral damage.
