THE OPPONENT Tim Beckman has discovered just how difficult it is to win in the Big Ten. Illinois is in danger of going winless in the Big Ten for the first time since 2005.

Is it good or bad that Troy Stoudermire could potentially break this record. Now I'm not sure of the stats, but it may speak to the gophers inability to stop the other teams from scoring. Having so many kickoff return attempts because of a bad defense gives you a pretty good advantage, I'd say... I'll still be rooting for him though!

It's bad because he is breaking this record simply because of his opportunities ie 1000 x 2 = 2000 while 100 x 20 = 2000. Dude hasn't even ran one back for a TD in all those attempts!

wrongside: your point is what? Football is still a team sport. Swallow that lemonade, shutoff your TV during runbacks, and find another cause in life to champion.

Ski u Mah! I'm sick of all the naysayers of every team in the state. Are you people ever happy? I know I want more from our teams, but guess what? Teams lose, players get hurt, coaches suck sometimes, drafts go wrong, free agents don't work out. This program appears to be on the right track, so let it play out. These kids that are here are working hard, give them some respect because they are earning it simply by not caving in to the negativity in our general sports culture. I am becoming more and more convinced that Minnesota fans are quite possibly the worst anywhere.

@dmul - these posters are a fair sample of the boo-birds and naysayers that have an interesting hobby: attacking the Gopher football program. I have observed them from the beginning of BrewBum's last season, and they haven't changed much. There are a couple pro-Iowa posters, a couple pro-Bucky posters, and a few Directional Dakota types. Oh, and there are a couple that just hate Jerry Kill. They laughed when I said 6-6 for the second season and a middling/major non-BCS bowl in the third year. Of course I said this in the barrage of negativity during the week after Coach Kill was hired. So far the team is on schedule on the improvement track, though these people will never acknowledge it. No, ILL-Annoy will not be a pushover today; we got their coach fired last year at the end of an 0-6 run after they went 6-0. Tim Beckman is another good coach, but he finds himself almost at the point UMinn was at when Coach Kill was hired. His Toledo teams showed what he can do; the Illini will be back. I am just rooting that today is not that day.
