I would rather go to Penneys because of the sales racks. My wife makes fun of that, I call it being frugal. Only when I am forced to go, that is.....

I like the things JC Penney is doing in the store -- things like better merchandise, merchandising and selection. However, retail is not like purchasing an automobile, and I just don't know if the "Saturn approach" to pricing is going to connect with the average retail customer. If people don't feel like they got a "deal", they feel like they paid too much -- and that is the psychological barrier Penney's is going to have with this business model.

I think their policy would actually work, IF their everyday low prices were indeed low. I find they are not that different from other stores. Seems more of a slogan than an actual practice.

Ron Johnson is the guy who made $400 million for himself at Apple. He thinks that JCP customers should behave like Apple customers. The discount bus left the station years ago. How presumptuous and condescending to tell customers you need to re-educate them. And especially in this economy people need to feel like they're getting a bargain. JCP is not Wal-Mart.

I have gone to Penneys for many years. I stopped not because of their pricing policies but because they have gone designer and no longer have the clothes I want

Yes, this new kid CEO has ruined Penney's. He even eliminated a good store clothing style - Cabin Creek.

I bought some jeans there this spring. Went back last week and they were cheaper. No sale. Just lower price. I don't know what to expect there.
