Twins must get better defense along with improved pitching

As the Twins begin the work to fix one of baseball's worst starting pitching staffs at this week's general managers meetings, it's worth looking at what they're doing to shore up their defense.

Twins pitchers give up way to many homers. The best defense in the world can't prevent homers, unless you have outfielders who can jump 50 feet in the air. Fix the starting pitching and the defense will be fine.

It was hard for me to concentrate on the article after I read "gold glove shortstop J.J. Hardy". I still get pizzed when I remember all the bone-headed moves mangagement made to screw this team up. At the pace Twins moves, it will take another 5 years just to see mediocrity.

Most telling thing here is that the Twins are seriously looking at playing 2 guys with sub-300 OBP. Oh, and those 2 aren't exactly stellar defensively. But Gardy loves his 'running game'!

We have something called efficency where I work. It doesn't mean squat. The only decent fielder we have left is that Florio guy. Not the guy from Pro Football Talk, it's Pedro I think. He'll get about 10 hits less than the replacement, but he'll save a lot more than that.
