I hope the Gophers and Smith remember how much better they looked last season when the ball was moving around instead of being dropped in to Mbakwe or RSIII in the post. Williams needs to be the guy in the front court, with the rest--Mbakwe included--playing a supporting role. Once the rust is shaken off, the shooting and turnovers will improve, especially with RSIII no longer in a Gopher uniform. I've said it before but I'll say it again: regardless of what the polls say, the Gophers have better personnel than any team in the B1G, with the possible exception of Indiana. With any luck, they'll play like they believe this.

I'm most interested in your bookend questions, Point Guard and Mr. Athletic, Rodney Williams. I sure hope it's a breakout year for both players to show the fans, NBA scouts, their team, coaches, parents that these two guys are high flyers, team leaders and help us become winners. This could be a special special season. Lots of talent here now. If Tubby messes this up, he's gone.

I am optimist about the 2012-13 Gophers even though I am certain that Mkwabe will screw up again and not finish the season although I suppose that Smith will find a way to give him yet another second chance if he does but... On the other hand, Smith has still not shown us that he can win in the Big Ten on a consistent basis sufficient to be a contender. As such, making the big dance outright without once again being on the NCAA bubble may be all that we can realistically expect from the coach and the team.

. . . . . . another year of mediocrity under the worst men's coach in the B1G. Glad you all have your hopes up, again. At least that shows that no matter how many times this coach and his team fails you are there for them.
