I never got an answer as to what the penalty is for voting multiple times. If it's a $100 misdemeanor, it would be well worth the financing cost for many campaigns to finances such activities. Heck, who am I kidding, the Dems are already doing it.

Voter fraud can be prosecuted by both the State and the Federal Governments. It is a felony. To deny another their right to vote is a Federal crime. Some of the conduct of Republican party has crossed that line.Voter supression needs to be addressed too.

Should have published this a week ago. Mn is in the stone age compared to other states and countries. The libs overreacted to the Voter ID proposal. We should modernize the process and expect people to follow a few simple steps as the vast majority of us already have.

kleindropper, to address your issue, contact the Republican woman who was arrested in Oregon that is currently facing $120,000 in fines and 60 years in prison for attempting to vote a dozen times during this past election. @elmore1 the libs did not overreact, rather they saw through the games that the Republicans were playing, the lies they were putting out, and the shortsightedness of voter ID. I have no doubt that we will be voting online in six years. I use six years because the next major election for governor is in two years, and by the second major election in six years the system will be working. Online registration and voting will solve many issues. We can tie birth, death, citizenship, and felony records together. Online voting will eliminate absentee ballots and the current issues with military voting since people will be able to vote from anywhere there's an internet or cell phone connection. Online voting will allow the person who moves to the nursing home to vote from there without problems. Online voting will allow national cross checking to eliminate the horror of horrors, multiple voting (actually you will be locked out after voting once). Mickey Mouse won't be able to register to vote since the previously mention records won't exist to prove that he/she exists. Online voting will provide an audit trail. Online voting will allow early voting as well as instant results. Online voting will be as "hack proof" as the current voting machines, and probably much better. Online voting will seamlessly provide multiple languages (OK, you xenophobes don't like that). There are so many advantages to online voting, and this is one reason the "libs" fought so hard against this shortsighted voter ID amendment.

This is the discussion we should have had for the past two years, not this idiotic crap about voter IDs.

The amendment was terrible, but voting improvements are needed. Small changes can be made every session to satisfy all parties. Since other states are ahead on this we don't have to re-invent the wheel, either. Just adopt ideas that are proven to work.

chavista, online voting does not leave a paper trail. Any computerized voting should, in my opinion, leave a paper trail for manual recounts. Unfortunately, many of the computer voting machines do not leave a paper trail. I do not understand how one can be sure that votes are counted correctly if the same machine that tallied the votes also provides the numbers for a recount.

They aer too easy to forge and as technology advances an amendment tying us to antiquated technology just craetes an amendment issue all over again.

jaccola Nov. 9, 12 9:34 AM - Why are you so hung up on paper. Paper is yesterday’s news. Have you ever bought a stock? There's no paper involved, it's all handled in Nano seconds on the computer and there's trillions of dollars involved. Go to your bank. I do 99% of my transactions online with my bank, credit cards, suppliers, etc. by computer, NO paper. We've been doing computer audits for 30 plus years without problems, the audit trails are there. As a matter of fact, online voting would allow the computer to keep an electronic record of the actual vote by each individual and if so desired your vote could be printed out. Online voting is coming! And thanks for keeping the discussion going, this is an important issue.

"contact the Republican woman who was arrested in Oregon that is currently facing $120,000 in fines and 60 years in prison for attempting to vote a dozen times during this past election. " .... he could also contact the Republican woman in NV who tried to vote twice. Or the male Republican poll watcher in NM who tried to vote twice.
