So, a gross cost of $7.25/watt. Not terrible, but a little on the expensive side for MN. To be honest, while I'm glad overall to see MN take steps to support a solar industry, reducing a $290k project to $40k doesn't leave a whole lot of skin in the game for the purchaser, and since the incentive pot is limited, it limits how many systems can receive the incentives. Personally I'd rather see smaller incentives spread wider, but this will probably work out in time. A 40kW system at a 10 degree tilt (somewhat shallow; optimized for summer I guess) in MN should produce about 3700kWh/month. So at $416/month that's just over $0.10/kWh, locked in for 6 years. It's great to see cities embrace efficiency & renewable energy in their operations.

After reading this I realized what people really don't think of in their push towards a 'warmer earth' because it makes life 'more comfortable'. Ummm..do people know the earth contains flammable gas, not just huge pockets that people can mine and burn, but just under the surface many millions upon billions of little tiny pockets that 'pop' like a geyser. No one knows and no one can guess when or where the earth will fart next but it does. As it gets warmer those poockets build pressure and they can go. So think of this as you greedily concentrate how much more 'comfortable' in your 'warmth' you are.
