It's amazing that 39% of Americans think the financial system is fair to everyone. If you take wealth distribution, Americans think that the middle 3 quintiles (the middle class) own ~40% of US wealth. In actuality, they own 13% of wealth--and that's only the middle and upper middle quintiles. The bottom 2 quintiles own virtually nothing in the country (Norton and Ariely, 2010). So, the bottom 80% of the country shares 13% of the wealth. We're in very bad shape, and a lot of people don't realize it.
