SACRAMENTO, Calif. - California Gov. Jerry Brown took a big step toward delivering on a campaign promise he made two years ago to fix the state's perpetual budget deficits and to raise taxes to do it only if voters agreed.

Only in California can you vote to raise taxes on someone else. Basically poorer Californians want stuff and they want someone else to pay for it. And then they couch it under the guise of investing in education. Why anyone with means and who is successful and still lives in CA is beyond me.
