Ryan's first year back a return to Twins normalcy

The Twins brought back Terry Ryan as GM one year ago. With the front-office reshuffling complete, he's the lead architect for improvement on the field.

Comon Terry........Make just ONE blockbuster move that will excite the Twins nation and give us something to look forward to in 2013.......

The worst record in the American League and a return to "normalcy" for the twins, I really hope I'm missing something here.

Not holding much hope. The so called glory years of the Twins will remain a memory.

If Terry Ryan doesn't think the Twins can compete next year, then start the overhaul and trade Mauer, Morneau, and Willingham NOW. It makes no sense to have high-paid veterans on a team that is going to struggle for .500. Either go out and get some top notch pitching this offseason to go with the veteran core of players they have now (while they are in their prime), or start the rebuilding process. I am down for either route. I am NOT on board for some sort of stay-the-course, gradual climb to .500 that will take years. That in-between, conservative approach while you wait for prospects that are 3-4 years away is what happened in the 90's and I don't think they should wait 10 years for a playoff berth again. I have been a fan since the early 80's. I do not want to sit through another long stretch of watching bad baseball because Terry Ryan is too afraid to trade prospects or Joe Mauer. Make a decision and get on with it.

There better be a big name pitcher or pitchers signed in the off season or I'm afraid the fans are not going to be nearly as supportive. Two years of 96+ losses in a row is enough. The talent, especially pitching, needs to be upgraded big time.Band aid signings won't get it this time around.

Return to normalcy - go sign 3 "cheap" washed up Jason Marquis like players and tell us the pitching staff is fixed. That to me is what normalcy means to Terry Ryan.

wayne5040: Outstanding comment. How can anyone give that a thumbs down? Like you say, either take aggressive steps to win now, or take aggressive steps to win later. Doing neither makes no sense.

This is going to end as poorly as Rick Spielman being GM of the Vikings. A couple of last place teams with dead weight in the top position. And both have coaches that should have been fired.

Terry Ryan has done nothing to make the Twins better ever. Andy McPhail made the Twins champions. Ryan gave us Matt Lacroix and Buck Buchanan. He is a money manager for the Polads, nothing more.

Ryan had his run here in MN and left on good terms. Smith came in, and had just a terrible team to work with. Then Ryan comes back and the Twins are just as worse as they were. The "big shakeup" did not happen. The Twins got rid of some coaches, but did not get rid of the worse coach, the pitching coach. How can a team with the worste pitching, keep its picthing coach and let the others go? Plus, is Ryan the "best" GM for the Twins at this time?
