Disgusting that people are hunting these few thousand big shy dogs for sport and pleasure. We don't usually kill dogs in the US for pleasure, and have the state take a cut of the dogfighting profits to pay for managing the 70-80 million domesticated ones. Why tolerate it being done to these, merely with double-digit percent larger brains and some abilities to live free without humans?

Great story, has to be the thrill of a lifetime for Mr. Mikrut! And don't worry, city wolf lovers, after this year's hunt is over there will be plenty of them left. In fact, I bet the DNR increases their zonal targets next season.

What a sad, pathetic person. Who would be thrilled to kill a beautiful, wild thing like a wolf for no reason except to kill something? Many of us up north think this is a travesty including a good number of native americans.

It's one thing to hunt deer, but hunting wolves is disgusting.

I've never understood "the thrill" of killing. I can understand killing out of necessity for food and safety, but to enjoy "killing" is just plain sick.

It is incredible how out of touch some people really are.

When all the beasts are gone, man will surely die of a great loneliness of spirit. Whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. For all things are connected. -Chief Seattle Perhaps hunting wolves should involve chasing them and murdering them with your bear hands. That would be fair. I hope you thanked brother wolf for giving his life so you could have a pelt.

Not all wolf "lovers" are city folk. I have lived in wolf country for 27 years, never a problem. I consider them part of place i call home. I wonder why the hunter featured in the picture, did not include a picture of him with his dead wolf? I suspect in the end he feels a bit of regret. I suggest that he read Aldo Leopold's moving story about the last wolf he killed, it might make more sense than just cruising through the latest Cabela's catalog.
