As far as away this seems, it is not out of the realm of possibility that we could be seeing the same here. Until a society can learn to live within its means we are all facing the same situation. (Media workers essential? I think not)

The problem is that when you look at the Greek economy, it is really a 3rd world country. I saw an article a few weeks ago that the local Coca Cola bottler was no longer going to be Greek business. This local bottler was 20% of the capitalization of the Greek stock market. A soda bottler! The fact is that this bottler was the largest non-bank company in the country. They want to live like the Germans, but they have an economy like Guatemala.

So there government chased all the wealth either out or under ground (taxing the business people to pay the "FAIR SHARE") creating the entitlement program. Now the people are upset cuzz they want there fair share and there is none.

I might suggest that they quit hiking the taxes and keep cutting the services etc. The Greek people have been losing it from both sides. No wonder they can't see this crisis for what it is.

one of Greece's biggest fiscal problems is tax evasion. There is a culture of no paying taxes that are legally levied. These shortages account for about 40% to 50% of that country's fiscal mess.

I agree our country will see austerity protests and possibly riots, no matter who is elected president and what party leads Congress. Even the left-leaning governments of Europe have faced the hard reality that government spending has been out of control and has to be cut. However, Obama and his party have announced no intention of cutting spending; it’s only more spending and class warfare. There’s a reason his slogan is no longer “Hope and Change.” Because his policies have failed and he offers nothing new, Obama’s slogan is now “Hope it Changes.” Either Obama is incredibly stupid or he intentionally is aiming to ruin the United States. Face it: everybody’s ox is going to be gored. It’s not a matter of “if” your favorite government program or subsidy is severely cut or eliminated, it’s a matter of when. At least with Romney we have a chance of turning this fiscal disaster around. And in my opinion, it can’t happen soon enough. Get ready for a rough ride no matter who is elected.
