Rand: A bit of a bump is too close to call

The announcer on the radio likened to call you mentioned above to the Packer Seahawks play with the replacement refs. Maybe a touch too much but not by much. I agree that pass interference is one of the most wildly inconsistent calls in all of sports. It's sort of like interference in hockey, the corner of the strike zone in baseball, or whatever it is they call in basketball when I think they should just let them play. However, the NFL will never decrease the penalty for pass interference. They are incredibly happy with penalties which create offense and points. What should happen is that referees need to get together on what actually is pass interference. And maybe there should be a penalty for asking for a penalty which will calm all those wide receivers down.
