That is their way of saying that they are more important than the rest of us. Many of us work nights, weekends and holidays- while they are safe in bed, with their big paychecks. Our health insurance rates are rising but we have not gotten raises in several years. It's equal to getting a pay cut.

Don't forget that pension at the end, folks. 97K plus current benefits plus that pension - not a bad gig. Oh, and they get per diems, travel reimbursements...

A fact of life is that people do sometimes get raises. You can't freeze your salary every year.

@privateeye "A fact of life is that people do sometimes get raises. You can't freeze your salary every year." -------------------------------------------------- If your salary comes from the taxpayers and you aren't allowing raises for County employees, then yes, you can and should freeze your salary. They seem so far out of touch with reality on this on. I will not be voting for my current Hennepin County Board member next time around.

If your salary comes from the taxpayers and you aren't allowing raises for County employees----------State law requires that commissioners adopt any change in their salaries before the general election. Changes in board salaries usually copy those given to other county employees, but lag a year behind. The board's 2014 raise is the same as other employees' 2013 pay increase.

They are already paid well-above what the majority of county employees earn.
