Why is there a potential fuel shortage? Three days ago obama was in the state and everyone said he had done a great job of preventing things like this.

Rationing doesn't sound like a staunch free market conservative. Glad to see Christie put ideology aside to at least try to do the right thing during a crisis. Most conservatives would rather exploit a tragedy like this.

During the 1970s oil embargo, those of us from the mid-Atlantic area, endured even/odd gas rationing for a number of weeks, political ideology aside, then, too. Unless one is from the area, you will never understand the population density ramifications in the Northeast corridor area, and its effects during disasters.
