Sure, japan should become more like the united states, where execs appoint one another to each other's boards, go to all expense paid meetings in exotic places, get lucrative payments, approve rock star executive compensation for snatch and run CEO's who line their pockets but do little to improve the company, and who feign wounded surprise when the sh!t hits the fan. If they think the american board model leads to "asking tough questions", they are dreaming. Boards of directors are country clubs where rich guys can get away from the wife and go putter during the day- a green($) pasture for genteel old stallions.
