That's where laws are made and can readily be refined, unlike with the Constitution.

"Pass the Amendment and pass a bill to Strengthen both our MN issued Drivers License and Mn State ID's. Add check boxes to both for Citizenship and Convicted felon status, simialar to the box for Organ donor." _________ Excellent points! The vast majority of Minnesotans realize our loose elections need to be fixed and will easily pass this.

Right now illegal aliens and non-citizens can easily vote with the loopholes we have in place. Requiring an ID would put a stop to this because it will be proof of their crime and illegal voters will be much less likely to commit it.

Minnesota has large areas with sparse population, where people vote by absentee ballot. If this voter ID is passed, it ends absentee voting. Many of our citizens vote by absentee ballot....active duty military, travelers, students at schools in another state, those on temporary job assignments, those in care facilities and hospitals,. All will lose their right to vote. This plan is not a good one. It is also expensive. Property taxes would go up. Putting this badly planned voter-ID into our constitution makes it awfully difficult to improve. And it does need improvement. So I will give this message to the legislature by voting NO.

Lori suggest the false choice. Dayton and the DEMs have no intentions of negotiating photo ID into law. The amendment route is the only hope we have for acheiving an honest election system in the future.

6000 names came back in 2010 with no one living at the addresses they claimed during same day registration. Major elections in MN have been decided by far less than 6000 votes.

Can't wait to vote YES for VOTER ID! I want my vote to count going fwd and am convinced it was cancelled out in '08 & '10 by phony voters. There is nothing unreasonable about being required to present a valid photo ID unless, you have something to hide. The majority of us already do it weekly if not daily.

"Can't wait to vote YES for VOTER ID!"__________ I agree, it's such a common sense amendment. We all know that the ONLY reason the democrat party opposes it is because the vast majority of illegal voters vote democrat, like the fraud group ACORN. Democrats don't oppose it when it benefits them however. They actually require ID's to vote in their primaries. Aren't they disenfranching the people without ID's then? Seems kind of hypocritical to me.

Re: "6000 names came back in 2010 with no one living at the addresses they claimed during same day registration." What's your source for that statement, chablis28? Google returns nothing which supports your claim. If your assertion is true, it would mean 6000 voters presented fraudulent documentation and/or thousands of people lied under oath when they vouched for a new resident's eligibility to vote.

My nephew is very liberal and going to college in California. Even he can't understand how Minnesota allows people to vote without verifying who they are!
