Now I'm hearing that the unions are keeping aid out of NY and NJ. I saw the same thing last year in Conn. after a big snow storm knocked over a lot trees and power lines. Those people suffered for months because the state wouldn't allow out-of-state contractors into the state to clear trees.
Not having much sympathy for them. When NY is running generators for the Marathon instead of using them for the people affected.. Well guess they got the leadership they elected.
People are cold and hungry. Death and destruction not seen before. Where is the help?
Four days after Katrina, George Bush's FEMA had taken over efforts from incompetent state and local officials and evacuated 40,000-plus people from the hardest hit areas of New Orleans. You remember George Bush: he was the 'insensitive' one.
It seems the misinformation brigade is on the job ...compliments of Hannity and others. If you believe for a minute that bringing normalcy to a disaster area is easy, guess again. For those attempting to compare to Katrina, the affected area and specific issues are different, as is the competency of the leadership team (they have real experience vs a horse racing executive). People are frustrated and will be -as you would if your life were turned upside down. Seeing the talking heads using the media to create turmoil is disgusting at best ...perhaps those criticizing should get out there and help vs attempting to make matters worse.
Well, at least the people parked in line for gas will have good seats to see New York's Marathon when it goes by. Of course, Mayor Bloomberg may decide to route it around the "unpleasantness" so the world won't be forced to witness people clawing through restaurant dumpsters for food for their children or the cold and darkened homes while shivering families wait for generators reserved for the marathon to become available. No, he certainly doesn't want to give the world the impression that there's problems in the city for which he's responsible.
The Right Wing wants smaller government and very little taxes to run the government but when disaster strikes EVERYONE wants the government to do and pay for it all. If they truly believe that individuals and corporations should fend for themselves why isn't FOX News telling their listeners this. It boils down to 'As long as I get mine and to hell with everyone else' mentallity! No one wants to pay more taxes but when something happens, people want the government to pay for it.
Happy to hear the casino's will reopen...whew, what was everyone going to do with all of their extra time and money?!
I heard that tea party activists and southern radicals were blocking bridges keeping vital supplies reaching those who need them most.
come on people. they had days and days to get ready for this. why would you not stock up on water, food, gas, etc....this storm did not just appear without warning. unfortunately, they are getting what they deserve for not taking it seriously and having supplies on hand.
