There had been talk of a big season -- even talk of a national title.

Early hopes? Your early hopes remain REALLY early hopes when you start the season with Alabama. When Robinson is your LEADING RUSHER, and he's unable to throw, I think all hopes are over for Michigan. SKI-U-MAH, baby.

At least Michigan scheduled Alabama and Notre Dame -- more than I can say for some other Big 10 institutions. I wouldn't write Michigan off just yet.

The wolverines will get healthy this week. If the Gophers get within 21 points I will be pleasantly surprised.

Most of us Wolverine fans really expected this to be a transitional year. Robinson is a great runner but wildly erratic as a passer. The defense has made impressive strides, but lost some key players to graduation. A couple of high potential quarterback recruits will be in place next year to take over. Minnesota definitely has a chance in tomorrow's game.

Power is back on in lower Manhattan so I'll be able to watch the game. Want to watch the Gophers play well. Few errors. Go Gophers. Always good to have sports as a distraction.
