Minnesota's economy is definitely better than the majority of the states in this country...It would be nice if they would add that in as a comparison when writing articles like this..

Gee, why is this article in the paper NOW right before the election? Sorry- still NO votes should go to "he who shall not be named" who insists he CAN magically change the economy and who also claims our current president did and will not if re-elected. Do not let this plant root in your worried hearts folKs! Let the honest well thought out seeds of recovery that have been sown continue to grow.

Too bad Dayton and Barry couldn't have provided money to modernize the Ford plant instead of going all in with GM. Many of us were proud driving Ford trucks built in St Paul by a great workforce.

The ISM index rose to 51.7 in October from 51.5 in September. Any index above 50 signals growth. The report is good news, experts say, as manufacturing has been a positive force in the economic recovery until recent months.

"Manufacturing continues to hold up better in the U.S. than in the rest of the world," said Nigel Gault, chief U.S. economist at IHS Global Insight. "It is still under pressure from global economic headwinds and domestic policy uncertainty. But IMPROVEMENTS IN THE DOMESTIC ECONOMY -- notably in housing and consumer spending -- are providing support."
