Michael Carter has developed into a top Big Ten cornerback, thanks to seeing things more clearly, both in reading quarterbacks and changing the way he looked at life.

Good to hear as he could have just left the U as a malcontent with a chip on his shoulder thinking that the world revolved around him or whatever. I wish him well during the rest of the season and after he has finished the U as well.

I will always remember Michael Carter's play on a sun-drenched field in late October. His artistic strokes at the cornerback position will remain forever etched in my mind. From the hit in the first quarter breaking up a pass to the outside wide receiver to the three consecutive pass breakups, the last resulting in a pick six; number 23, you will always be a part of Gopher memory. Isn't that why we go to the games and cheer on the Gophers, for the memories?

Was great to see, not just because of football. The reason to support teams - all teams (good, bad, men's, women's, revenue, Olympic) - - is because this is what sports help do. They provide opportunity for growth and redemption, ways for kids like Carter to learn lessons that then hopefully spill over into the rest of their lives - and those lives around him. Good on him, good on Tyrone and coaches for bringing the best out of him, and good luck to him in his future. In uniform and out. Nice story.
