The quarterback sensed a staff in transition, a big reason why he chose to play for the Gophers and Jerry Kill instead.

Especially if Denard can't go, this is a great opportunity to grab the jug on Saturday. It should get familiar with our trophy case for a while.

I like The Mankato Kid. Best thing out of there since Rummy Macias.

Happy for Nelson and Carter. For a freshman and senior to do well and grow as individuals is what college athletics is all about. Keep it going, guys. Go Gophs.

Would it be great to see Minnesota beat Michigan and all the blue hype? Yep it sure would. Brings back memories of tony dingy and Marion barber beating the wolverines 16-0 back in the day. Let's do it again. Ski u math baby!

steavis61067, major props for the Rummy Macias reference. Rummy and his wife Donna were friends of my family. Over and out.

The hits receivers take in the endzone after they score is almost always overlooked by refs. This has to be a15 yard penalty. Barker's injury should not have happened and may not have if the defender knew he'd be penalized.

I hear what everyone is saying, and understand their thinking on the athletic level, but aren't you supposed to choose an institution of higher knowledge, because of their educational opportunities?

This could be the year to beat Michigan. Kill and Teague must love the fact that they may beat a team that is missing a key player. You definately don't want to play a BCS type of team.

To comment 229: The U of Minnesota, academically, is as good as Wisconsin. Any Big 10 school I am sure will provide an above average educational experience. Obviously when an athlete possesses talent to gain a D-1 scholarship, the possibility, no matter how small, to play beyond college is entertained. To deny that dream or hope is silly. Minnesota is learning...recruiting good athletes is not enough...recruit good, hard working athletes that do care about academics. Bo Ryan has that mastered that here in Madison...he has passed on some local talent simply because they have egos too big for high school & have crazy parents that promote that thinking. They may never win a national championship because of it, but they still have guys drafted to the NBA. So yes, get an education but it's okay to pursue the dream as well...you can do both!

Big, big week for Marqueis Gray and his football future. With Barker's injury and media magnet Michigan up next, it's Gray's opportunity to show everyone he can play on Sundays.
