The Vikings are seeing firsthand how deep and how talented the first-round draft class was this year.

Some of what you say is true Mark but the truth is that the vikings are feeling the "brunt" of a poor coaching staff and not enough talent on both sides of the ball and that is why this club was schooled by the likes of two rookie QBs and a 2-4 Bucs squad. It will get even uglier in the coming weeks with the Purple facing the Bears and Packers twice and the Seahawks and Texans on the road!!!

Vikes will get a fluke win courtesy of special teams somewhere down the road but that's it. Six win season. By about week 12 we'll be whining about them like never before, but really, improving by three wins over last year should be considered semi-acceptable. I like the pieces in place for most parts of the team except the most important one, Korterback. The worst thing they can do is continue this Ponder ridiculousness into future years. Cut the cord on him after this year, it's not working, won't ever work.

BTW: You heard it here first... Tyler Wilson of Arkansas will make some GM look really good next year. His team sucks this year which has dropped his value but he'll go in the mid to low first round. Vikes will have a shot at him.

When the Vikes play Seattle, will be interesting, to compare, QB's, our first round pick CP against Seattle's last years third round pick Russel Wilson. Have a gut feeling, us Vike fans, are not going to be very happy.

All I can say is that meaninless win in Wash a year ago is gonna haunt the Vikes for years to come. You get one chance in a decade to get an RG3 and we end up with Ponder. This franchise has been nothing but a disappointment for sixty one years and counting.

we are 5-3. vikings have proven they can win against top teams and there is NO reason why Ponder and the Vikings defense can't turn their recent struggles around. I cant stand the sky is falling attitute most fans have. Temper your expectations like most did at the begginning of the season and don't change your mind just becuase they get a few games above .500 If they win 8 games this year it will be clear they are a team on the rise.

This is going to be a GREAT game to compare Ponder to a true rookie...Wilson. Can't wait to compare the two.

I keep hearing everyone say Ponder has no one to get open and throw too. How DARE you judge Rick Spielman that way. Knowing we needed help at the WR position, he masterfully brought on board the likes of Jenkins, Aromashodu, Camarillo..all studs. And then when he took Decker ahead of Gerhart...that was just plain highway robbery. Oh wait. I mean face it, Spielman has completely ignored the WR position in this pass happy league, much like he panicked with taking Ponder at QB. Number one pick, I don't think so. When you have no wide receiver and no QB to move the ball downfield, you do not win many games. I am afraid the rest of the season is going to be a judgement of Rick Spielmans personnel decisions. And the outcome will be no more than 2 more wins the rest of the season. But Spielman and Ponder will still have their backers. Then we can face next year with basically the same results. Remember, this year we are playing an easier last place schedule.

Wow, plenty of half empty glasses out there. And still on Spielman even though he got 4 starters (so far) in the last draft. Ponder may or may not work out, and yes, I'd love to see us grab a stud receiver or 2. Let's see what we get in free agency or the draft next year. Because yep, we are still rebuilding. One thing I don't ever want is for my team to ever throw a game for any reason. 3 wins (not seen since the Les Steckel year) was painful enough. Getting only 2 wins (by throwing the Washington game) would make me feel like what a Lions fan must be used to feeling like.
