This is pretty embarrassing. Don't get me wrong, Minnesota is probably the most talented team in the WCHA but tying a bunch of high school players after splitting at Tech is not the way to establish a winning culture amongst the players.

Another great night for hockey! MI knocks down Miami, BC wins 1-0 over Mass-L, DU handling things at home against MTU, Cornell shuts out the CC Tigers, and WI wins in Duluth! This U18 team has great team work and talent. That's two top 10 teams they have tied now!

The USA team was much stronger that I thought. Even though the Gophers had more real good opportunities than the U18's, they could have easily lost the game if Shibrowski hadn't come up big on about a half dozen point blank shots. Both goalies played very well, and from a fan's perspective it was a real fun game to watch. P.S. Hope Hudson Fasching is OK after taking Serratore's crushing (but legal) hit at center ice. Also hope Parenteau will be OK to play on Sunday - he had to be helped off the ice and it didn't look good.

You mean the same team that tied Notre Dame and outshot North Dakota and Wisconsin, yeah embarrassing....

If the USA U18's play anything like they did tonight against the Gophers, they will crush St. Thomas. But playing in front of a much smaller crowd (where they might not be as motivated to impress) on a smaller, NHL-sized rink (where their skating ability could be neutralized) might change things considerably.

How does the USA team not play the kid from North Branch, Hunter Miska. These people have not heart.

As usual, Don Lucia has his highly talented team under performing. Any other coach would improve his players. Lucia wins by getting the best talent on his roster, not by coaching or improving his teams. Denver EASILY beast a Michigan Tech team that gave the Gophers fits. Lucia is in it for a paycheck.

Denver played Michigan Tech at home, we played them up in Houghton. Denver got beat by them up there last year as well. Road wins are always tough to come by in the WCHA, I don't care who you play. Barring injuries this team will be fine and they have the depth to deal with the inevitable injuries that occur from week to week. They will not go undefeated, but they will be in the top couple of teams at the end of the year. Sounds like we should be recruiting the goalie.

An early hiccup or two may actually get this talented squad focused. Now if the Gophers lose to Canisus then there is cause for concern.

The Gophers will beat Canisus by 2-3 goals, but that doesn't mean the Gophers can "go thru the motions" and win easily. Canisus has 12 Canadians, so I would expect a physical game maybe even a bit chippy (ala North Dakota style)
