While sentiment is that children parented by same-sex couples do "just fine", an indisputable fact is that there are physiological differences between a man and women. As such a child raised by a mother and father has better balance in life having received input from both.

Keep cherry picking the evidence.

Thank you for this long awaited commentary. The following professional organizations support same-sex parenting: American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Sociological Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Bar Association, American Medical Association, Child Welfare League of America, National Association of Social Workers, and the North American Council on Adoptable Children. There is not ONE professional organization of comparable status that opposes same-sex parenting.

stared, For clarification, are you stating that there is no difference between a man and a woman? Link and argue the facts by showing where there is a disconnect.

If it were an "indisputable fact" then all kinds of research would support your sentiment. This however is not the case. The best available research at this time shows no significant difference between children with same-sex parents and children with heterosexual parents.

Actually, all the "decades" of studies referred to in this article involve either self reporting by gay parents or extremely small sample size. A 2012 empirical study by a University of Texas professor using empirical evidence and a large sample group found some significant differences between children of single sex parents and children from hetrosexual relationships. These included increased levels of depression, unemployment and suicide. This study seems to go unmentioned by advocates of gay marriage because it doesn't fit their preconceived notions of good social policy. Well, not entirely ignored--gay activists tried to convince the University of Texas to fire the sociology professor who conducted the study.

According to the latest research, no, these kids are not "fine" but are decidedly at-risk and have much poorer outcomes than their counterparts raised by moms and dads. But, if you really want to believe this is true, please stop celebrating mother's and father's day, since moms and dads aren't special anyway.

The idea that being raised by two daddies or two mommies is harmful to kids is ludicrous, much as the argument that kids need a mom and a dad. ALL families are different and the government has no right dictating what types of families are right for kids (unless the latter are being harmed, of course).

Lawyerguy and okbruce: You are quite funny. Time will show that the sky doesn't fall if you are raised by same sex parents. Hence all the organizations that support it.

As stated in The Chronicle of Higher Education: "It’s worth noting, again, that the audit of Regnerus’s original paper by Social Science Research, the journal that published it, found its presentation of data “extremely misleading,” and that its methodology was criticized in a letter signed by 200 scholars." It essentially stated that kids in dysfunctional families are not as successful as those raised by two parent families and that some of those dysfunctional parents at one time or another had a same sex relationship at some point in their lives.
