Before arriving at the U, he'd always played quarterback but he's game to play anywhere. NFL scouts believe his future is at receiver.

This is where he should have been all the time. I just wish that Kill would have moved him to wide reciever last year. Hope everything works out. (P.S. I never believed in a quarterback who could through and run, those who do/did like to run more which does not help the team out, that is why you have running backs or wide recievers).

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Marqueis as I did for Adam Weber before him. Adam Weber was never able to fully develop and have a college quarterback career he was worthy of and it is looking like that will happen to Marqueis as well. This is no fault of their own. Both players worked hard, did what was asked of them and are great leaders. Weber and Gray are victims of poor circumstances brought on by constant changes caused by the inexperience of Coach Brewster and the recent transition to a new coaching staff. Coach Brewster is a good guy/coach who cared about the program/players and had all the right intentions but did not know how to build a program. I'm sure he would do much better as a head coach now after his experience here at MN. Marqueis is an elite-level athlete developed from natural ability and a great work ethic who has not had a good supporting cast. This is not saying there are not great athletes on the Gopher Football team, but these players have not been developed to be the supporting cast Gray and Weber needed. Inconsistency and change take a few years to settle and none of these players have had a clear vision. Until now. I have no doubts Marqueis would have been an All-American level quarterback had he gone to Oregon, LSU, Florida, etc. and I feel bad he was unable to achieve this level in college. He took a chance by committing to an unproven coaching staff and program and it did not work out, for him anyway. What Marqueis has done through his unselfish attitude and loyalty, is he has paved the way for future blue chip athletes to commit to Minnesota. All the pieces (solid experienced coaching staff, beautiful on-campus stadium, new energized athletic director/department) are in place for Gopher Football to return to greatness. I would have loved to see Marqueis develop into the college level player we all knew he could, but we will just have to wait until Sundays next year to see his full potential. Thank you Marqueis, all Gopher Football players and coaching staff for giving me a true sense of optimism. The time is coming. Thank you Marqueis and all Seniors, I know it will be an exciting, hard-fought last 5 games. Ski-U-Mah!!
