Here comes a big new spending program. The reality is that simple maintenance can take care of the problem. Clean, so there is no lead dust on the surface. Repaint to seal the lead paint from human exposure.

How about watching your kids so they don't peel and eat paint? Guess we need another federal program to monitor the monitors who monitor the parents who are supposed to be watching the kids. If this doesn't prove regulations are ridiculous, what will? So if we ALL cough up, oh, I dunno, $100,000 apiece, can we lower this from 3,000 to 2,750? Maybe the "acceptable" level is wrong. We used to play with mercury in high school and college physics. Roll in in our hands. Heck, today those teachers would probably be thrown in jail, fired, charged with abuse, and the schools would be closed for weeks while the hazmat teams cleaned up. Yep... more regulations. That's what we need. Oh... and what about all these new lights REQUIRED by law that contain mercury. Anyone else think just maybe in 5-10 years, after they have been tossed into landfills, that maybe groundwater and marine life will show higher levels of Hg? And they will wonder why...fund a multi-million dollar study whose answer will be another program. Hey... I get it. Can I get my name on a federal ballot?
