So the guy was felony assaulted with mace and the cop was felony assaulted with spit... lol.
Wow! The last domestic assault suspect I arrested for choking his live-in girlfriend (oh, and breaking her jaw) in central MN only got charged with a gross misdemeanor....I sure wish we could get a county attorney like the one you guys have in Hennepin County!!
Spitting on a cop is a felony?
Exaggerating a charge like this just invites ridicule. It would be nice if the authorities could show some integrity and just play it straight.
I believe just talking out of turn to an "all mighty" MPLS copper is a felony. We should all learn to just obey the govt. and everything will be just fine.
Which bar was it?
I wonder if he had spit on a homeless man whether it would still be a felony. Oh I forgot, cops are more important than other human beings so it would only be a misdemeanor. What lovely justice we have in Minnesota.
selfmade: You got it. There is no oversight of the cops in this state. The judges don't question what they do. The press doesn't have the resources to do investigative reporting on them. They are free to do what they want and they know it.
Spit is a bio-hazard. Lots of nasty diseases hang out in saliva. I have noticed from my many years living in the city that those with the strongest dislike of the police are those that have had more encounters with them due their own stupid and/or illegal behavior.
Exactly basia. Well said.
