Mark Craig's Sunday Insider: Lack of pre-snap penalties a positive change

It's the lack of pre-snap penalties (false starts, etc.) that have been a problem for the Vikings in years past.

It is all about discipline. Junk penalties like false starts, encroachment, to many men on the field, etc... Go back to the position coaches. These coaches have done an exellent job, with alot of young players. I have also noticed alot less Def. Holding/pass interference calls against the vikes. This has to do with not being out of position. The 1st 2 games of the season, it looked like the Vikes of last year. The last 3, the players are starting to gell as a team. They are understanding where they are supposed to be, in different situations. This always takes time. The fact that the team is doing it so quickly is telling me that the coaches are really doing their job. GOOD JOB GUYS!! Not to change the subject, but, where are all the packer backers???? They have been kind of quiet lately. Did anyone see ESPN's First Take? Mr. Rogers actually put the blame for the Offense's lack of being prepared for games, on the packers scout team. What is next? If he throws an int. and looses to the Texans, will he be blaming the equipment mang. for putting dirty air in the footballs? There is your MVP. Real class act. Double Check Click!!! GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not many naysaysers are commenting when the team is sitting at 4-1. And that can change given the heavy part of the schedule is coming up. But it is apparent that Frasier and Spielman have a plan and it is working.

I love the purple as much as anyone, and I'm not a football coach nor an expert Strib writer/prognosticator (tongue firmly in cheek, Mr. Craig) but it looks like they simplified pre-snap movement and Ponder's cadence. Makes it easier to be disciplined.
