The 1st of countless Gopher victories tonite. Unlike Gopher B-Ball and Kill's hapless + untalented squad, Men's hockey START the season with quality opponents. Mich State was a Final 16 qualifier last year and has won the NCAA men's title more than once. Gophers will score at will this year. The real ???? is goaltending. They are young. Unseasoned. Maybe a lot of 7-4 games...... Go GOPHERS! And the women won 5-0 tonite. They wlll repeat as champs for sure.

ear2... I can agree with the Gopher Hockey success for this year ... they will likely finish 1st or 2nd at the Frozen Four. But they should ... and every year! Year in and out they've gotten the 'pick of the litter' of high school and prep school talent for the past 60 years. To compare the Kill football regime in a state that has cared little of nothing about Gopher football for the better part of the same time frmae probably isn't comparing apples to apples. Gopher Hockey has always been front and center in MN. Like football in TX and hoops in IN & KY. Support the Gophers - hockey, football, basketball ... all sports all genders- Go Gophers!

Go Gophers! Where's the women's hockey story? Vikings get another front-page sports section story--they didn't play last night & dont' play today. Come on STRIB, how bout a little coverage for the national champion Gopher hockey team!

MSU is not in the same league as the gophs this year. gophs made them look like a U18 team without the talent of a Vatrano, Fitzgerald, McCarron, and Fasching. MSU has one of the weaker programs in the NCAA, bottom half, certainly not regional selection this year. Their hope was their goalie and he was defenseless. Maybe next year but not Saturday night!

" Come on STRIB, how bout a little coverage for the national champion Gopher hockey team!" Excellent point. They are 5-0 and have outscored opponents 34-1. How good can you be?
