I wonder if the U.S. and it's trillions spent defending the EU from the Red Menace might get an honorable mention? And how about giving North America some love? We haven't had a major war in North America since the U.S. Civil War 150 years ago (not counting the thousands of dead from the Mexican drug wars.) That's a much better record than Europe.

Hahahahahahaha, hehehehehehehe, this is almost as good as giving it to Obama. Have these people lost their minds..., has the Nobel Peace prize become so cheap now that they have to give it to someone who has done NOTHING for peace and then they give it to an entity instead of a person ? Give it up, it has no value now...

How sad. It used to be that receiving this honor meant something. Apparently, that is no longer the case.

The Nobel and the academy awards committee should combine forces. Their selections have been suspect for some time. During the days of WWII, they would have given the award to a little corporal from Germany. It has become a joke--and a bad one at that.

Clearly the basement blowhards have no concept of what the Nobel Peace Prize means. The very idea that the U.S., which launched an illegal and unnecessary invasion of Iraq, tortured prisoners, and continues to imprison people with no due process, is hardly a candidate for the prize. The award heralds the EU's work to hold together a group that once warred amongst itself at great cost to the world. Is it perfect? No. Should it be recognized for trying to keep disparate countries working together? Absolutely. In a country where hard-line ideology bordering on fascism rules our Congress and state governments, and at lest one faction prefers managing foreign affairs through military action, we have no standing when it comes to the merits of a peace prize.

There is so much wrong with the theme (not the reporting of the article) of what is going on, its hard to know where to start. For instance: " Right now, Europe is stuck in a three-year financial crisis caused by too much government debt." Excuse me, our globalist bankers created derivatives that were in essence gambling slips and imploded the financial markets when the bets went south and then transferred that debt unto the governments. These same bankers are now saying that the people must live austere lives to reduce the indebtedness. Iceland arrested their bankers and Denmark just started doing the same. America went through the same process and bailed out the globalists as well. We rewarded the guilty and punished the people. No one person or any political entity should get any prizes until this whole financial affair is completely ferreted out with the guilty parties returning the cash and serving prison terms. (Is this when pigs fly?)

I heard the real reason was...well that the EU did not need the award as much as they needed the money! ;-o

So we had one for a guy who has a personal kill list and regularly bombs children, and now we have one for an organization that is largely responsible for bankrupting an entire continent. I can't wait for next year! I think the Enron guys are eligible!
