I would love to vote for almost anyone other than Obama. But Romney is looking more and more like nothing more than a paler version of the same guy we have now. When Mitt was running against Santorum for the Republican nomination he swore up and down that he was no longer an abortionist and that he had firmly joined the Pro-Life side. So some of us swallowed hard and said we'd support him. But the other day he said that he wouldn't do anything to end abortion. And when he started hearing from us about that betrayal he "modified" his position yet again to say that he would "de-fund" Planned Parenthood. Can you believe this guy? He PLEDGED to END ABORTION! And now he says that he'll DE-FUND it??? We don't need him to de-fund abortion. We need him to stick with his original promise to END ABORTION! But honestly, we saw it coming during the debate when he backtracked on his promise to slash taxes. Now he says he won't cut taxes at all! We just didn't think it would only take him a day or two to throw Pro-Lifers under the bus as well. We can't and won't vote for an abortionist for president. Romney needs to get back on track if he wants our vote. But I doubt he will. He's shown us his true colors this week.

Romney cannot be trusted! He takes whatever position on abortion that serves his own agenda which is to reverse Roe v Wade!! If you long for the good old days of "keep them pregnant and barefooted", Romneys your man! What is really scarey is that there are many Romney supporters who are covertly pushing to get back to that philosophy, that way of life!!

Right wingers who carry on about ending abortion are not in touch with the real world....which is this: There Will Always Be Abortion, always and forever. The only question before us is whether abortion will be LEGAL or ILLEGAL. Put another way: will a woman have control over her own body, or will a group of men make her decisions for her? And then, of course, once a woman is forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term....who will care for and raise the result of that pregnancy - the men who prevented the woman from ending it early, quickly, and safely? Now we all know the answer to that, don't we?

And then, if the right wing succeeds in outlawing abortion completely.....think about it then. Back alley butcher abortions, unsafe, unclean, causing infections, some so severe that further pregnancy is impossible, often causing death. Oh, the wealthy will fly to wherever abortion is legal, or they will procure on the black market some RU 486 or whatever. They'll be able to get abortions if they want them. Not so the poor and middle class. Abortion will flourish, it'll just be illegal, unsafe and probably, because if the right wing were to gain complete power, there would be no contraceptives available either, abortions will be numerous, as much as they are now legally.

I'm always been amused at the self righteous "prolife" group; typically they have no adopted children; typically they have no plans for the unwanted children that will ensue;and as a poster here said, it will not end abortion, it simply means the wealthy will go out of the country to get their abortions; they would support execution of the mother, father (if he aided) and the doctor who performed it if say, it was performed in Texas. All for ideology...all for their own, if not shared, religious beliefs...take away choice for women in all parts of the country...

As I read this article one word came to mind: 'weasel'. Then BOOM, in the last sentence there it was...WEASEL! Too true.

"That isn't what Romney said. This is a man with a long history of using technicalities to disguise his ... views." /// /// /// This is a man with a long history of lying.

Romney has no abortion agenda. He would be happy if no one ever brought the issue up.

The only people using "technicalities" are those that use the word "choice" as a feel good substitute for "murder."

siouxfans - No you are wrong there, abortion is one of many choices. Me, I've chosen to use birth control, in the form of condoms and medication (that I actually take for another purpose but a side effect is to prevent pregnancy too). There is safe effective birth control out there, however that is on the chopping block too, particularly for the poor if Planned Parenthood is defunded. Anyone who has used any means to prevent pregnancy is making a choice. And not all that are pro-choice would ever choose an abortion as it is, but they support someone else's right to. When you talk about murder, technically the death penalty is murder, even more so than abortion as you are killing someone that is living, an abortion is ending cells that only have the potential to become a human, most are done at a time that they could still miscarry, you never know... Just as an FYI, I do support the death penalty in some cases, but don't refer to pro-choice as murder unless you are going to refer to death penalty as murder too.
