A six-lane security screening checkpoint opened last week, and the original checkpoint was closed for remodeling, at MSP's Terminal 2-Humphrey, which is used by AirTran Airways, Sun Country and other low-cost airlines. The new checkpoint, along with a large new floor mosaic, is located near the skyway to parking and light-rail transit. It can handle 150 more people per hour than could the original, which will reopen in early 2013 to help process the growing number of flyers at Terminal 2. By early next year, the terminal will also host six new concessions, including a Surdyk's Flights cafe.
