Pawlenty slashes $200 million from bonding bill

The governor trimmed $200 million-plus from the bonding bill through line-item vetoes. DFLers said the cuts hit their districts, especially St. Paul, hard. But Pawlenty asserted they were neither personal nor political.

Must be hankering for that possible VP job to get in with the fiscal conservatives. By the way, Timmy, thanks for helping shepard in that Twins stadium for us Hennepin County taxpayers. I swear that Timmy's about a two-faced as our resident snake, Sen. Norm Coleman.

So Pawlenty said he wouldn't approve a bill over $825m, so he takes a $925m and turns it into $717m. Did I take a different math class in school than he did?

Last week he proposed $825 million in bonding projects, and now he tries to slice out $108 more? I bet you he didn't slice any of his pet projects. When will the Strib tell us what he vetoed?

What are the specifics? I think there was about $100 mil to save. He took $200 mil. Did he also figure out a way to keep the tax breaks for his pet program JOBZ? I learned a lot about the frankenstein veto in Wisconsin recently. TPaw doesn't have the power to, for example, keep the cut in the corporate tax rate, but lose the offseting cut to his favorite programs, opposite of the intention of the legislature, right?

He just supports "fees" and shifting taxes off to your local governments, and then pretending he had nothing to do with it. Typical cowardly Republican.
