Brian Kobilka won the 2012 Nobel Prize in chemistry Wednesday along with another American. Kobilka, who is from Little Falls and a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth, is one of several Nobel prize winners with ties to Minnesota.

Another Nobelist - in chemistry - was William Lipscomb. He was a faculty member at the U of M before leaving for Harvard. Some of the work for which he received the prize - on boron hydrides - was done at the U of M.

What about Peter Agre? He graduated from Roosevelt High School Augsburg College.
