How about the new Central Corridor light rail line? Will it be equipped with the new technology?!?!

The sad this how is the planners/developers of the light rail lied to the public in order to ram this project down our throats, insisting that the trains would not cause the absurdly long traffic delays at key intersections. For eroding public trust, they deserve to be unemployed. Also, closed circuit to whoever Nathaniel Hood is: those of us in Minneapolis don't "choose" to drive through it, we have to drive through it.

This is no longer about smooth, efficient, traffic flow. Now the objective of Traffic Control Engineers is to thwart traffic flow. All around Minneapolis, bump-outs, lane restrictions and light timing are being used to create artificial congestion. They don't call them Traffic CONTROL Engineers for nothing.

After years of being a proponent of the LTR I can honesty say it was a bad idea. Why oh why didn't they elevate it?

God, I hope so! I have waited for about 5 minutes on several occasions trying to cross Hiawatha.

So, whats the city's solution, turn a couple of lanes in each direction into Bike lanes, maybe convert another into a bus only lane.

Anyone who designed a system wherein the traffic on a road PARALLEL to the light rail tracks constantly came to a stop when a train approached needs to be unemployed. It bears repeating--they screwed up traffic on a road that should be unaffected by the tracks. Unbelievable. Mass transit should complement roads, not conflict with them. God help anyone who drives on University with any regularity if they screw that up too.

I know this is also going to be a problem down University Ave when the new LRT line opens in 2014. Without the LRT line the traffic was horrendous at Snelling and University. It will only get worse with the LRT. I advocate LRT, but I think they don't plan very well for it when they don't elevate it or route it below grade for certain intersections.
