Shocking....can't believe he won. *sacrasm*
Coming to a country near you? You better hope not.
Sophisticated voting with receipts to insure an audit trail - check. Sunday voting to assure high turnout - check. Balanced coverage in the media - check. My many measures, Venezuela is more democratic than the United States. My guess is the exiled Venezuelan oligarchy are in emergeny meeting with their Washington masters to stop this sort of thing from happening again.
Lower and middle class voting their economic self interest. Very inspiring. The 1% will not allow that to happen in the United States.
An 81% voter turnout is indicative of a very engaged populace. What Americans think of Chavez matters little, the Venezuelan voters have spoken and they have put Chavez in office for a third time.
Chavez is a socialist that allies himself with communist governments. Is this the hidden agenda behind the Dems?
Congratulations Venezuela! Long live the 99%! -R. Perschmann
Oil, oil everywhere and not a drop for us.
@brianstr 81% voter "turnout" is indicative of voter fraud.
Looks like Chavez is well on his way to running the economy into a ditch. Apparently food shortages and periodic blackouts weren't enough to dissuade the Venezuelan poor from indulging their fantasy. That's too bad. An opportunity missed. Enjoy that $20 loaf of bread. 21st century socialism will be just as miserable as 20th century socialism.
