Sid, when you're right, you're right. In the preseason you wrote that "Spielman and company made zero mistakes" in this year's draft. While drafting the oft-injured Greg Childs may have been a blunder, Kalil, Smith, Robinson, Walsh and Ellison have more than made up for it.

Now that the viking's have used up the "cream puff" portion of their schedule we will finally see what they are really made of during the second half of the season!!! The proof will be in the pudding now that they will have to face teams with winning records (Bears, Seahawks, Texans etc..) soon. No more facing last place teams in the humptydome (other than the Bucs) like the hapless Jags and Titans.

a division win on the road can rarely be called a cream puff.

I keep saying it I hope someone on the Vikings coaching staff would read this. Jared Allen draws alot of double and triple teams right? Well why not move him around once in awhile move him in a stand up behind the line in gaps once in a while like a middle linbacker but more in a blitz move. The offensive line would be in chaos and have to account for him and change their thinking when he does it. Sure they do stunts etc. but lining him up already in a different spot would even make the Qb think again. Allen can be a force but when he is in the same spot all the time. Players get used to his moves and adjust. I wish the defensive coach would consider this. Demarcus Ware is such a force because they move him all over. Even if he couldn't get to the qb he could bat down some passes inside rush.

linkdawg you are right Ellison was a 4th rounder. I figured the receivers they drafted wouldn't be much.

If Simpson is hurt, is there any great receivers we could get before the trade deadline? Ponder would be so so much better if he had 3 great weapons to throw to. Is Carlson still hurt? I figured he wouldn't be anything and a waste of money. I sure hope Simpson isn't hurt, they need a deep threat or two. Jenkins is so slow and if he gets covered he gives up and stands around. Watch him on plays. Aramadusu is ok if he is covered close, he gives up to when he thinks he is going to get hit. Now Rudolph he could be used alot more even though he comes up with a clutch catch once in awhile. He already has 4 td catches. Peterson I think has lost his break away speed but he still makes the tough yards. If Peterson would take lessons from Chuck Foreman he would make our passing game much more effective. I know he has a bad knee and Chuck Foreman got a bad knee because he was the master Spin Doctor. Chuck was and is the best all around running back the Vikings ever had. He was awsome. Some of you younger kids that never seen him play, google him and watch some of his highlights. He had moves one on one that made the first player miss and grasping for air. They never do the pro set anymore which I think they should and circle the backs out to the side and give the Qb a choice to throw to. Harvin would be great as would Peterson.

Yeah, who would have thunk it, 4-1 at this point. I see few flaws on this team, with a few more draft picks and offseason acquisitions, they're only going to get better, much better. Needless to say, the one glaring weakness on offense is the lack of the deep ball/threat. Though Ponder is evolving nicely, it would behoove Musgrave to open things up more often. It's also nice to see guys like Brinkley, Guion and Griffen step it up, they're the ones making the difference on D. Oh, and Jamarca Sanford? He's finally coming around!
