Cost and convenience has some pet owners transferring their pet's medications to their own pharmacies.

I think that the transfer of responsibility to fill animal prescriptions in human pharmacies not only poses a significant risk to the patient but also to public health. Human pharmacists have NO training in Veterinary prescriptions while vets have entire careers dedicated to such study. The cost saving is negated when we examine the rate of errors and assumption of knowledge that human pharmacies make while filling these scrips. Dogs are NOT little people and cats are NOT small dogs. Thank you. Dr. Eric Ruhland
