Why didn't the people in this family tell everyone else in their family about the stuff they were selling so this woman didn't have to have her face pasted on a newspaper? "People" do interesting things....This is odd to me.

I agree, rebeirebel. The story said family members could choose what they wanted from the collection. Why wait until then went on the auction block? I don't get it.

The article said the immediate family and grandchildren got first picks. These are cousins. Maybe not the most satisfying answer to the reader but that's the distinction.
