It is long past the time to permanently drop all federal farm subsidies including insurance. Farmers need no financial help and if you need proof, look at farm land prices.

I have spent years working with farmers and in rural areas and I can assure that with this big crop in Minnesota and North Dakota that the local coffee shop talk is one of dire gloom. You see there is not enough bin space to store the grain, and my goodness, do you realize all the extra fuel it takes to bring home the crop and dry it when you have such a big crop and then haul it to market! The costs are tremendous! More federal subsidies must be given and fortunately for these farmers the Congress is in their back pocket to get them. And don't be getting any ideas of raising real estate taxes. Taxes are for the little people to pay.

I was surprised that a picture of a 1940s Moldel M Minneapolis Moline or WD Allis Chalmers wasn't included in the article. Gotta keep the city folk thinking its Green Acres out there!

Let see.... We subsidize (already rich) farmers to artificially raise the prices of their crops/land/equipment -- which artificially raises the prices of food. Then we have to give out more food stamps so that people can still afford these artificially raised prices of food. This is MADNESS. Time to end all farm subsidies!!! This would be a win-win for everyone. I'm especially sure farmers would have no problem getting rid of subsidies, since they are the first to voice their hatred for any form dsocialism....
