Defending champs show they can surprise, and maybe that they're better than last year.

Kind of feel sorry for Lynx after putting together an excellent team and going for back-2-back titles and then out of nowhere the Vikes find a way to win a few games and monopolize most of the sports section every day.

If the Lynx were truly at the top of the local sports scene, there would be more than 3 comments to this article. Until then, they are no more than a glorified minor league sport in competition with the St.Paul Saints.

It isn't a hard scene to get to the top of unfortunately.

Take it back jaywalker! there are now 5, read it, FIVE comments! Not to mention the millions (AND MILLIONS!) of people who picked up the actual fishwrapper today to catch up on all the lynx action!

I'm generally bored by basketball, but the Lynx are pretty fun to watch. I went to Game 1 of last year's WNBA Finals but, I hate to say it, I am waiting until this years WNBA Finals to go back. Sorry!

Good read, Rachel: you're on the money. The Lynx put a competitive, entertaining product on the floor every game -- and that's outside of the good they bring off-court. They are now 19 -1 at Target Center and among those 8500+ fans who made the effort to show up were: Governors Dayton and Ventura, and at least one Viking (spotted Chris Cook) along with a couple of Timberwolves. Those watching from home are missing out on a fun and energetic shared fan experience. This home team, which has led the WNBA in majority of categories, deserves full-house support.

In fairness to Blount, the headline doesnt match the article. Indeed, it seems to ask where the paying customers are hiding. Like more and more sports fans in the HiDef era , at home watching on TV.

Living out of state I can only watch them when they are on t.v. They are fun to watch. Just wish the Strib could spare a little coverage for them.

rlesports, the Western Conference playoff games will probably be more exciting than the WNBA Finals. The Lynx/Seattle series was one of the best I have ever seen and I've followed the WNBA since the Lynx were established. If there is a Game 3 on Wednesday you should go :) Unless Indiana makes the Finals somehow, the Lynx and them played 2 great games near the end of the season! Wish I still lived in Minny!
