Target and other retailers wonder: Too much information?

Seeking what one analyst called "breathing room,'' Target said it will stop reporting monthly same-store sales figures next year.

Good, maybe this will help the constant price adjustments 'due to gas prices'...

Very little value in the reporting of M-T-M same store sales that vary by a tenth of a percentage point or less but send the market into a tizzy. The monthly employment report has about as much value but everyone hangs on to that number until of course it's revised up/down the following the month so it was never accurate to begin with.

Target not reporting sales monthly is unlikely to affect their prices. Grocery prices are going up due to more than just the cost of fuel.
