I am an independent and last night, I made up my mind who I am going to vote for. Romney won the debate and there is no doubt about it, but the more I thought about his statements, the more I knew he was embellishing at best, lying at worst. Simply, I heard a lot of promises to the middle class but heard not one specific detail about how he would accomplish all this. I want to see a list of the loopholes he would close. I fear that the mortgage deduction for middle class Americans would be the first to go. I think he also underestimated the backlash on medicare. Certainly he is counting on the elderly to ignore the cuts in medicare because it will not affect them. What he underestimated is that many of these elderly people, have children and grandchildren who would not have the advantage of medicare. Sorry, but I just don't trust him. What will make me trust him? If he released his tax returns for the last ten years and listed the loopholes in the tax code that he would close, I certainly might trust him more and change my mind. Until then, I am just a member of the 47% and damn proud of it after working two jobs all my life.
